"Unlocking the secrets to living long and living well"

Initiated in 2003 at the University of California, Irvine, the goal of The 90+ Study is to perform prospective clinical, pathological and genetic investigations in people aged 90 years or older, the fasting growing segment of the population. With a committed cohort of elderly participants, we have assembed the largest prospective study of oldest old subjects in the world. The results obtain thus far have provided researchers across the globe with valuable information about aging. The study is run by the dedicated staff at the Clinic for Aging Research and Education (CARE) in Laguna Woods, CA.

Specific Goals of The 90+ Study include:

  1. To compare characteristics of those who live into their 90s to those who do not live as long.
  2. To examine the progression of thinking skills and physical function over time.
  3. To determine the number of people with memory problems and the causes of those problems.
  4. To study changes in the brains of the oldest old.
